Estimating the Evaporative Cooling Effect of Irrigation within and above Soybean Canopy

Vegetation with an adequate supply of water might contribute to cooling the land surface around it through latent heat flux transpiration. This study investigates potential estimation evaporative at plot scale, using soybean as example. Some plants’ physiological parameters were monitored and sampled weekly intervals. A physics-based model was then applied estimate irrigation-induced effect within above canopy during middle late season growth period. We examined results temperature changes a temporal resolution ten minutes between every two irrigation rounds. During growth, effects caused by evapotranspiration were, on average, 4.4 K 2.9 K, respectively. used quality indicators such R-squared (R2) mean absolute error (MAE) evaluate performance simulation. The in this better (R2 = 0.98, MAE 0.3 K) than below 0.87, 0.9 due predefined thermodynamic condition cooling. Moreover, revealed that contributes mitigating stress conditions seasons crop growth.
